Digital e-library jointly launched by the Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS), Tsinghua University & University of Exeter.
In 2021, the IIAS launched a digital e-library project in collaboration with the University of Exeter, UK, aiming at making better use of Exeter’s abundant paper-based materials (a large number of single-copy and precious collections of books) of area studies, and digitizing them for permanent preservation to assist the academic studies of the IIAS’s doctoral students and young scholars. The project will allow the IIAS to own more than 100,000 additional digital books and materials, including many single-copy collections of books with great academic value and social benefits. Within the framework of the project, the IIAS will dispatch specialized personnel to visit the library of Exeter to learn about professional management knowledge, including the preservation, sorting, classification, and cataloging of data and literature, which will promote the professional development of the IIAS’s database projects.
